In this day and age where a person’s wage doesn’t necessarily keep up with inflation it is important to save money wherever you can. Below are some ways that we have incorporated into our daily lives so that they have become second nature.

First, we only shop discount stores and chase the sales when it comes to shopping for groceries. We plan our meals around the sales we find. Sometimes this means we don’t get to have a beef roast if only chicken was on sale but it does help us stay within our budget.
Another thing we do to save money is we run our appliances at night. You will have to check with your utilities but some of them offer a discount if you use them during off-peak hours. If your utility company has a discount be sure to throw in that load of clothes before you go to bed and start the dishwasher once the discount hours start. In our house this is super easy because work all hours of the night. Don’t worry you can still take advantage of it if you just make starting these appliances before you go to bed.

One thing that many people don’t do these days that we do and it keeps our expenditures under control is we use cash. Of course we pay our bills out of our checking but we take a set amount of money out for groceries or even for a shopping trip. This works best if you leave your debit and credit cards at home. If you know you have $50 in cash and nothing to fall back on you won’t spend more than $50.

Last, we use coupon codes for anything we buy online. You know when you are shopping and it asks you if you have a promo code or coupon code, never make a purchase without one. It doesn’t matter where you are located there are coupon sites in just about every country. In the United States I use RetailMeNot or Ebates. Those in the UK might use Pigback.com. Germany has a site called amexio.de although I have heard they have a harder time finding codes than we do i the US. In the UK you will find a lot of deals at hukd and in India they have a site called 7coupons.in. It seems no matter where you live the goal is to save as much money as you can. Normally if you search hard enough you will find some kind of a code to take money off of your purchase.
What ways do you use to save more of your hard earned money?
