Kids today spend hours on cell phones, tablets, computers, laptops. It is only natural that there would be an app to deal with chores, behavior, and allowance. Parents set the app up and the kids can complete chores for a set privilege, treat or monetary reward.

Some parents swear by apps for chores like iAllowance, ThreeJars.com or MyJobChart.com. These apps vary and some keep track of chores and behaviors as well as the rewards earned or even lost. This is a way to help a parent stay organized and not forget to pay the children their allowance. It allows the children to be more independent so that you don’t have to spend your time nagging them to do chores.
Now I believe that these apps for the cell phone or computer are a great addition in the attempt to get kids to do their chores, The different features really make it possible to keep track of anything. You can pay on the spot with some, earn points with others. Some apps use debit cards to pay your kids, I suppose that is fine for older children but in my opinion you should use actual money to pay the children (if you use monetary rewards) so that they can learn to recognize the difference between a dime, nickel, quarter and such. One example of an app that work with a debit card is Allowance Manager.
What do you think? Do you prefer an app or a physical chore chart?

This is one of the worst mistakes I made when my kids were growing up, not giving them chores. Back then we didn’t have a this technology to help though so this is great.
